This weekend, Evie and I went to my Gran's house. I've blogged before about how her house is my favorite place on this earth (although that post may have been on my last blog and not this one). It's just a place where I can recharge my batteries and feel completely loved while doing so. Like always, she cooked a feast for her family.
The house she lives in was built by my great grandfather. And it was made from the pine from the land the house sits on. He cut the wood and my great grandmother drafted the plans for the house. Years ago, my Gran had the house updated, the old wood removed, and siding put on the house, along with insulation to make it more livable. My aunt took some of the wood from the old house, along with a photo of the old house and had it turned into a framed sketch of the original house. One day, this picture will become mine (as will the house).
I'v already set a date to go back and spend a few more days before the fall semester starts. I wish she was closer. I'd spend every second I could there.
It was a good Father's Day with my family. I hope all of you had a good day as well.
